Early Fall Communication

Migration is in full swing! Many PBOT volunteers have reported their last Painted Buntings to our database for this season. Remember, some buntings can remain in our area through October, so please watch for those few at your feeders. For example, I heard from a volunteer just this morning that she had 3 Painted Buntings and entered them as spot sightings!

August Communication

As of 10:00AM on August7th, 4913 observations have been submitted. You may notice that the sightings seem to have tapered off in the past month. However, don't be discouraged! The birds are still out there; they just aren't coming to the feeders as frequently. Remember that they often switch to insects while nesting. Keep your eyes peeled for the new batch of greens that should be showing up at your feeders.

May Communications

Hello, Fellow Bird Lovers. The data collection is coming along wonderfully! As of 1:00 PM on May 16th, 1293 data entries had been submitted. This is very impressive! Thank you!! Speaking of data, many people have noticed that the pie charts lag behind the true statistics. This is because the data isn't added into the chart until it has been "accepted" by me. I like to leave your entries alone for a few days, just in case you need to make corrections. (Corrections can be made after acceptance, too, but you must contact me for that.) Read more »

Welcome to PBOT Version 2!

Let me be the first to welcome you to the new Painted Bunting Observer Team website! You'll notice some minor realigning of the design throughout the site. Every change should be for the better, and we hope that this and will make your interaction with the site more pleasant. The most notable change is with the main navigation which has been moved to the top of the page. If you have any trouble figuring things out, please check out the FAQ and Instructions pages.
