Intern meeting, new spotting scope

Today I attended a mandatory internship meeting with Dr. Rotenberg at his office at UNCW.  Only 3 interns showed up, and that is including me.  Some of the interns were out of town and had let Dr. R. know in advance, but a couple just didn’t show up.  (Not a good thing to do when your grade depends on it!)  Chelsea, Keith, and I were able to review previous intern’s portfolios and ask questions about what our portfolios should and should not include.  Some of the portfolios that we reviewed were very nice, but one of them was full of misspelled words that really detracted from the finished product.  It served as a reminder for me to edit my portfolio carefully.   We also were able to look at the new spotting scope and tripod that the EVS department recently purchased.  Dr. R. showed us how to use the spotting scope and how to set up the tripod and scope.  He also reviewed our responsibility regarding the items when they are on loan to us.  We will sign them out with the EVS secretary when picking them up and then sign them back in when returning them.  I was glad to see that the carrying case for the spotting scope is a “pelican case”, which is very tough on the outside and fully padded inside.
